Despite hundreds of articles, books, videos giving information about ADHD, why would it be useful to attend a workshop ?

1/ Because there is also a lot of misinformation and for someone who is not (yet!) very familiar with ADHD it can be tricky to understand what is true and what is not. If everything that you can read, hear or watch about ADHD was clear and reliable, not so many patients and families would suffer.

2/ In addition to an ongoing treatment.

For example if you would like to double check that you fully understood what the doctor explained during the latest consultation. Specially if the explanations were not in your native language.

Or maybe since this consultation, more questions came to your mind.

Alternatively it could help you support your child during the waiting time for ADHD assessment.

3/ To avoid excluding a diagnosis because of misconceptions and disagreements.

This could happen when one parent is absolutely convinced that the child has ADHD and the other parent is absolutely convinced that the child doesn't. In this situation it is useful that both parents attend the workshop together in order to get the same information at the same time. Understanding is key !

A similiar situation : the teacher suggests that your child has ADHD but as parents you consider that ''everything is fine'' at home. Or vice versa.

4/ Because the topic interests you.

Maybe your grandson or your niece was recently diagnosed with ADHD and you would like to learn more about this disorder and understand how you could support him / her.

5/ For other reasons or without any particular reason of course ! :)
